Wreck This Journal...progress?

Week 3 of Wreck This Journal is complete! Here’s what went down…

Day 8: You’ll have to get ahold of the journal and find it to see it, even then it may not make sense!

Day 9: Probably the hardest one thus far. First, I had to leave the journal with a friend. Then, I had to trust them to wreck it “responsibly”. As if that’s even possible. I was mortified when I saw what had happened. However, I have to admit it was very creative…genius actually!

Day 10: This one was easy. I new my journal would be safe with me in bed. (Drawing is not to actual size)

Day 11: This one was fun. However, I chose to use sharpies cause all I had were mechanical pencils and they kept breaking. What can I say, I rock out pretty hard. PS. I also don’t like pencils cause they smudge. So I guess you could say I’m not cured!

Good week of journaling! The entries are getting more risque. I’ve been skipping past the ones that me me really uncomfortable, but running out of the simple ones. So stay tuned…shit’s about to get real!

Wreck This Journal...not getting easier but way FUN

So in my last blog I talked about Wreck This Journal…what’s about and why I am doing it. I’ve decided to do a weekly post to update you on all my journaling that week. So here goes:

Day 5:

This one was pretty liberating…who knew. It felt so good that I had to scribble the other side too #breakingtherules. My only concern here, was that my parker was running out of ink. That bothered me.

Day 6:

So, the obviously the first thing I did was look for perforated edges. *GASP* There were none. Seriously?!?!?! Anyway, I ripped it out of the spine which felt good (honestly I felt like a rebel) and crumpled it right up. Now what? Do i put it back in my journal? I feel like I should but then I have a loose piece of crumpled up paper in my journal…not a fan. However, I decided to keep it in there. It is a journal entry after all!

I’ve had several people ask about my “Wreck This Journal” posts, so I figured I’d tell the world about it since it will be part of my world for the next few months.

I picked up this little gem at Target. I was not seeking this book out…I like to think it found me.

Here is what it’s about:

So, as someone who is very particular and OCD about everything I saw this as a perfect opportunity to “relax the F up”.

Everyday, I will post my journal progress. There may be some days that I take on multiple tasks. That’s the great thing about this…I can do it whatever I please. That was my first challenge I faced. I felt like I could only do 1 page a day and had to go in order. ..no jumping around. NOT TRUE! It’s crazy that something so simple can be so liberating. (I’m already progress). I also had a really hard time “cracking the spine.” It’s gonna a long, fun journey!

Do you ever listen to a song over and over and over….and over again? I think at some point we all do that. Well, this song has recently been that song for me. It’s not new to me, but for some reason at this point in my life it speaks to me.

I’m not sure exactly why ( I have my guesses). Which is why I think it keeps calling to me. I’m trying to piece together thoughts and feelings with the end result of some kind of clarity. Whatever it is, I know it’ll be for the greater good. Once I find out what that is, I will share with you guys….wow, talk about getting personal.

Flipping the Switch

So…what does this actually mean. I think it could look different for many athletes and crossfitters. What it means to me:

It’s GO time. Fight or Die

I’m about to start my third year of competing in CrossFit…2010 Fittest Games was my first competition. My second year was very different from the first. I was competing for Red Black team, I wasn’t coaching yet and could barley snatch 95 pounds. This year, I competed for CrossFit Central, we went to the games and placed decently, and a 95 pound snatch is warm-up weight.

Until today, I really never understood what it meant to “Flip the switch.” I would say over the last 5 months, since the Games, I’ve been training at about 60-70 percent of my “potential”…including my performance at competitions. It was off-season and I needed to recover, mentally and physically. Which I think is very important in our sport.

That’s now over. It’s time to dial into nutrition, mobility, recovery and training. It’s time to set new goals and hit new PR’s. This year will be better than last, and I can’t wait!

My Training Goals for 2013:

Compete on the CrossFit Central Team
150# Snatch/ 185# C&J
240# Back Squat
315# Deadlift
Finish the open in the top 20
Finish top 15 at the Fittest Games
Stay Healthy!
Have fun!
And last but definitely not least…CROSSFIT GAMES!
